“El último tercio de Ferrer Dalmau” by Augusto Ferrer Dalmau

Sketches and final painting depicting the a Spanish tercio near the end of the Battle of Rocroi in 1643.  This battle marked the end of a century of Spanish dominance on land and the rise of linear combat.  After Rocroi, the Spanish would win a few more battles, but their French foes would soon become the army to be reckoned with until Waterloo.
